Today is Tuesday, and every second day of the business week I get my dose of human-required humor from an online comic directed towards general aviation: Chicken Wings.
As of publishing time, the comic authors, Michael and Stefan Strasser, post a new comic every Tuesday. If you have some interest in General Aviation, or simply have a funny bone you should check it out.
Chicken Wings follows the crew of Roost Air, a flight school and Fixed Based Operator (FBO) at a small airport. The main character Chuck, is a chicken, and is the chief flight instructor at Roost Air. His misadventures with life, love, and of course flying, are the main driving force of the comic. He is a character that you just can’t help but love, or least laugh at.
His smart alec sidekick is Roost Air’s Mechanic, Julio the Duck. He doesn’t think very much of pilots and takes the maintenance of his planes very seriously. His punch lines sometimes have me chuckling for hours.
You can meet the rest of the characters from Chicken Wings here, or you can just read the comic from day 1.
It looks like it was started in 2009, and has a small enough archive that you can start from the first comic and work your way to the most recent one.
Speaking of which, I think today’s comic is a good introduction to Chicken Wings for two reasons:
1) The comic is still aviation themed, but everyone who has taken a commercial flight should find it entertaining.
2) Today’s comic, while still funny, doesn’t follow any of the plots, or story arcs that Chicken Wings has been developing over the last year. You can enjoy this issue without missing any inside jokes from the previous comics.
